The Story of the Stone (Not for Sale)

Here’s the process of creating an oil painting. Before painting, I always sketch out many drafts—it’s a habit of mine. These drafts also tell the story behind the artwork.

Let’s talk about this painting—"The Stone Understands My Heart."

When I used to feel unhappy, I would touch stones. Stones are like silent companions, offering quiet companionship. Besides the stone, this painting is also inspired by Chopin’s Nocturnes. I love listening to Yundi Li’s version on repeat. I’m not great at distinguishing which artist plays it best, but Mr. Yundi Li’s rendition always calms me down.

"Stitch one year, mend another, stitching and mending year after year." In life, we often get caught up in trivial matters, rarely pausing or finding stillness. If you’re interested, you can listen to Nocturnes while viewing this piece—hahaha.
