Dedicated to the great Sensei, Osamu Tezuka! Dedicated to little Astro Boy!
Sharing a piece from 2019 titled "Bumi and Astro Boy"—an 85x85cm oil painting. I was truly honored to be invited by the official Astro Boy team to create this collaborative work. The artwork features two new companions from the latest version of Astro Boy, along with a little penguin and my character, Bumi.
Here’s the story behind it: In the painting, Bumi and the little penguin are in the middle of drawing a giant Astro Boy when—suddenly!—the real Astro Boy and his friends appear. My childhood idol and Bumi are finally together in the same frame—haha!
I started learning to draw as a child because I loved Astro Boy. My biggest dream was to become good friends with him and save the world together someday.
Astro Boy was like a dream that suddenly brightened my world. So, why not let him suddenly step into Bumi’s world, too?
A large part of my worldview was shaped by the cartoons of my childhood. Do you also have cartoon heroes who grew up with you?
